What is Endovenous Laser (EVLA)?

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) uses targeted laser energy delivered through a thin fiber to close diseased saphenous veins from the inside. It has replaced traditional vein stripping for most patients with venous reflux.

How does Endovenous Laser (EVLA) work?

EVLA uses laser energy delivered inside the vein to heat and seal diseased veins, redirecting blood flow to healthy veins.

The procedure involves:

  2. 02A laser fiber is advanced into the vein and slowly withdrawn while delivering energy.
  3. 03The vein seals closed and is gradually absorbed; circulation reroutes to healthy veins.
